I know some of you have some cool new projects and pickups. I have one too that I'll post when I get some time for pics later.
Or maybe just tell us how your day went.

Well, I wasn't able to make it to the swap due to family stuff and then the post-swap ride was cancelled after I had loaded my bike on the car to attend. Then I went to an Irish bar and listened to music and drank Guinness. Not too bad.......

paint and decals are perfect save for one spot on the decal that I might have actually done when I put it on the rack the bring it home.
It's got weird nutted hubs , but that looks very nice quality and are light, laced to nice rigida alloy rims.

I got a few interesting things...
Junkyard sold me some very cool tubular rims I plan on building up...
Tom generously gave me a set of axciom panniers that he toured France with...
Dura Ace 25.0 (???) aero seatpost. What is that diameter?!?
Brooks sprung saddle...leather is damaged, but I might have it redone or use the rails for a new hide.
Two VERY nice Treks...one sold to another member, one sold this morning but the buyer is bringing it back. I TOLD him it was too small for him!
A bike I won't mention and haven't decided what to do with.
Some SPDs.
A bunch of tubes.
And, most importantly, camaraderie.

Hmmmm.. That " unmentionable " might be the score of the year Aaron. Thanks for the help
earlier in the day! I hope you did as well as I did.
Johnnybee.
I had a great time!
I sold my 1940 Schwinn New World and am very happy about that.
Then I bought a pair of Campy Record hubs, large flange, no QR's, for $20.
Then I bought a Campy Record hub, small flange rear, with most of a QR (wrong nut) for $0.50.
Then I bought a beat-to-heck leather saddle for $4, a poor Brooks B17 from the 60s for $10, and Campy bar end shifters for $40.
I looked at some beautiful bicycles. I did not buy them. I saw two Schwinn New Worlds, both newer than the one I'd just sold. Then I saw a sketchy looking POS that I couldn't take my eye off, and next thing you know I had bought a Raleigh Lenton Sports, complete, with an AW hub dated 1960, for $40. Apparently Rob had his eye on it, but apparently my eye roves faster than his. Or was it my feet. Well, my wallet hand is pretty quick (except in restaurants). Anyway... he has too many bikes. :innocent:
At this point I started trying really hard not to buy anything else. Ended up selling a few items, no big stacks of cash, and buying a couple pumps, a handlebar or two, a chromed stem....
I met some interesting old guys with funny facial hair and a beery smell who liked to talk about old bikes. I liked them. Good people. I got a couple of business cards. But I couldn't shake this feeling there was a good deal on the next table and I had to get away.
For some time, I am told, I was standing right next to KonAaron Snake, may even have conversed with him (I can't pay attention to everything), but no one introduced us. Humph!:notamused:
I'm pretty sure the bike I bought is this one, from 1951, the 1960 hub notwithstanding:

Johnny - I really like it...but when I mentioned keeping it, I got the death stare. I think I might sell a couple of others instead and keep "it". Thanks for the band help!! t's definitely a better fit for me than the Team Miyata and the Cyclops.
Rudi - I think they were worried that if I knew you were there, I'd buy up all the Suntour and SA hubs I could find and sell them to you in the parking lot :p
I asked a few people if you were around and somehow the connection was never made. I also tried to find Harvey from the CR list but seemed to have failed miserably.

I haven't been to other swaps to compare, but if you somehow turned the velodrome over and dumped out all of the MTb and post 1990ish parts there really wouldn't be that much left over. Maybe 40% of it is lightweight vintage bike parts?

Most of the guys with the nice vintage stuff are CR list members (with a few who also post here, but shall remain unnamed). I think the BF C&V crowd is a slightly younger contingent, and we basically buy the CR crowd's less valued stuff (they keep the good). On the flip side, they 'score' from us. If you read the list, you'll learn that one CR regular bought Tom's Sachs. I can't place all the names with faces, but it's pretty easy to spot most of them by their wares. I think VLW collecting and selling is a fairly incestuous affair. The stuff just moves in circles.

Almost every time I post a bike locally a friend named Len, also into older steel, responds and usually suspects it's me by the ad. I'd say 1/4th of all CL ads I answer end up being his. Like you said...one circle.

Didn't you put a pair of Campy skewers in the BOC you sent me last year? You want them back?
I had big plans to finally make it down for this one. I had my inventory all lined up in my head. Then my wife reminds me that she has a 4 day weekend and wouldn't it be nice to go to the Adirondacks.
It really was a beautiful weekend till the car blew a seal at the front door of the Adirondack Museum (they have a boat collection that I've been dying to see for years). 4 quarts of 10-40 into the virgin watershed in about 30 seconds.
Spent the rest of the day (and about $700) getting the car towed to the nearest place a couple of hours away, then catching a cab to Albany and getting a rental and driving it back up to Long Lake.
Well, at least it didn't happen on the Jersey Turnpike with a rack full of bikes on the back. And I did get to see the boat collection real quick while I was waiting for the tow.

The only reason you got that Sports Rudi was because I was talking to some clown in way too tight jeans about someone elses frame that I was trying to sell.... I think next year, I'm just going to stick to selling my own crap as most of my stuff usually sells before the gates open.
You do realize you're the pot calling the kettle black sir:innocent: Too many bikes....:D
I'm sure I'll either end up with the bike @ some point or at the least, get a chance to ride it. I'm glad you got it and not someone who will just ship it off and or try to resell for a stupid amount of cash
Oh, on the way home from the swap I picked up a decent Klein w/ an 8spd 105 group and I picked up a bunch or stems, bars (Cinelli) and some other misc parts for decent prices

Had a good time, finally sold my Waterford, and didn't immediately sink the cash back ito the swap. I tried, and I was in a spending mood, but it was pretty picked over by the time I was flush. Weather held up really well, despite bad omens. Really enjoyed hanging out. Saw some nice bikes - a Ciocc snagged early in the day by Billy Rounds, a fairly nice Zullo, the much discussed here Cotten and '74 Colnago. Nothing I couldn't live without or won't see again, though. Thought aobut bringing the Tom Kellogg just as a conversatoin starter, but with the iffy weather, it syaed in the garage.

The main thing I got out of this swap was I didn't have to suffer thru the awful drive up and back, because I didn't bother to go. I've got a hellacious project for the winter already, I sold off most of my stock to VCU/Uva students for decent bucks, last time I came back with two bikes when I really probably needed none (but certainly wanted both the ones I came back with), etc. I'm having a good fall and will likely be at Westminster with absolutely no stock, a table, and a couple of grand to drop on cool stuff. Might be at T-town next fall; do Westminster in the first half of the year and T-town in the second.
I'm looking for absolutely nothing right now, which always helps in finding stuff.
I'd love to see a Vitus pic, though, and whatever it is Holiday came up with. Where the heck are the pics on this thread? I understand why I don't have any-- I wasn't there-- but ya'll are stepping on my vicarious enjoyment.

This was my first time at the T-Town swapmeet. I went up with hopes I'd scour some miscellaneous Sturmey parts for my Pug, but nobody had any Sturmey stuff around. Basically, I just hung around for most of the day walking around, chatting and looking at bikes. I found the BF contingent (part of them at least), and introduced myself to them and had some great conversations about bikes in general. It was nice to put faces and real names with the avatars and forum names. I bought two things: a Brooks B18 Lady for my wife's Linus Mixte and a cheapo Beacon single speed Raleigh knock-off.
Overall a good day. I can't wait for the next one. :)

That Trexlertown swap sure has more Campy than Sturmey Archer. Sheesh.
If you were to go to the Larz Anderson Bike Show in Brookline, MA in August, they have a huge number of old English bikes and tons of English 3-speeds. The T-Town show is much larger, probably 3x the size of the Larz Anderson show. I guess the difference in emphasis is due to the fact that Boston is a town that has a huge contingent of bicycle commuters and need for city bikes, whereas the T-Town event is more racing and touring oriented.

Hello All,
I had a great time at the Swap, it was my first time there!
I bought this frame from a really nice guy (maybe he's from the forums?) for $20.
From what i can tell it is a '81 Raleigh Super Record. I'm planning on building it up as a single speed to get it in working condition, then strip it down and repaint it.
It's about as heavy as a boat anchor, perfect for a city bike!

And while I'm at it...Here's a pic of my KHS with the 9 speed Mirage/Daytona shifters, Open pro Rear wheel (laced to an American classic Hub - Are these adjustable?), San marco seat (Yes, it's on wrong :) ) and a rear brake since I ended up with two rears and no dual-pivot fronts :bang:

that would be me, but let's not let it get out that I'm a nice guy :)
Enjoy!
Don't be flattered. He must be talking about the other guy with the $20 Raleigh Super Record.
I snagged a nice black Japanese Super Record Mixte for $120 and a Guerciotti for $300. got some brooks saddles. had to leave early to get to my job... as a vintage bicycle mechanic.
I got there 11-ish, later than I'd hoped, but I have a good excuse- I stopped for home brew supplies. Sorry I didn't see you guys.
I had a buy list for a Raleigh Grand Prix I just got- aero brake levers & hoods, got a Shimano Tourney set with calipers and cables too! A vinyl saddle with rivets that looks like a Brooks, 5 bucks. 27" tires were scarce as hen's teeth, but I found a puncture resistant pair for $30. Back in the day, I had a Grand Prix I put Sun Tour Superbe pedals on. For nostalgia's sake, I splurged on a pair with toe clips for $70 bucks.
For my main road bike, I got an ergo bar and new tape.
