Yes!

An invention by fellow portland bike forums member, fourknees, has given me the ability to ride with a handlebar lamp for little money!

I purchased a dollar tree LCD flashlight and attached it using his method. His photos are showing examples of use with a mini flashlight $$$ however...

PS. I used the innertube by cutting it lenghwise and cut a hole in the innertube by folding it into thirds, similar to cutting out a paper form in grade school, thus improving his invention by doubling innertube strength.

Wow, and to think I spent money on a normal bike light... Sam's club and Ebay have very bright flashlights that include high, low, and strobe, same as my bike light, except 1/3 the price... Probably the only disadvantage I see is maybe a slightly higher chance of theft, but that's just a guess.

I suppose I might do this to add a second light though.

That's a good, cheap tip. But when did your friend invent this method?

I like the video method. You friend's invention would place metal against metal.. The clanging and grinding noises would drive me crazy on a ride. Especially in the dark when surroundings seem to be more quiet. :D

Good observation. Luckily I have padded handlebars, so that problem was eliminated straight off.

you could always put a piece of inner tube between the handlebars and flashlight...it would solve the rattle problem.

That's exactly what the video method does all in a one piece construction. ;)
