I saw that, too. I'm just outside Albany and almost responded but a quick google search (which I'm sure the seller did, too) revealed a bunch of ads asking $700+. I'd have offered $150 and I'm sure it's worth more but anyone who doesn't post an asking price deserves to be low-balled.

+1

Not listing a price on CL is a pretty dumb thing to do. The buyer is hoping someone will send him some super high offer (which will probably never happen) and most keen sellers that respond low-ball the heck out of it, making sure not to accidentally bid above what the seller thinks it's worth. It's just bound to be a lose-lose.

$150 sounds like a good starting point :)

I agree start at 150 to 200. this is very likely a Columbus/ Falck mix, maybe Alle main tubes, with a mix of Campi derailleurs and shifters, Universal or Modolo brakes and Ofmega cranks and hubs. the hods apear to be missing so it may require tires and lots of elbow grease and TLC tobe a good rider again.

Bianchi Alloro 56 cm Bike. Purchased in 1985, rode for 5 years, in storage since then. Needs a new home. Great bike!
Best offer.

If the seller suddenly starts looking for over 400 I would pass. it would have to be shw room pristine for that kind of money. "in storage since then" could simply mean it has been in the corer of the garage proping up the kids BNX bikes and the lawn tools

Thanks for the feedback. Yeah I hate when the CL seller doesn't list an asking price.

Not posting a price is against CL's TOS.

He sold it quick. Had an email the day after I inquired that it was sold.

He probably took a low offer. The fame would've been too small for me but I'd have swapped the parts over to Cd'I

You must know your Bianchis! I'm not sure of the tubing.
I am tempted to remove the bike shop sticker to see
If there is a Colombus decal under if. I'll post some photos
soon. It has a few chips in the paint but rides and shifts great!

I'd like to see pics as well. I hate when CL posters don't include pics or prices.

It measures 56cm to the top of the seat tube and although my 57cm Via Nirone and my 55cm Volpe fit me well, this frame seems small. I have the seat all the way out and maybe I'm just not used to the more dramatic geometry. Feels like I could use another 1/2 inch of seat post for my leg length.
Anyway, here's a couple of shots. I'm wondering if without a sticker, can it still be Columbus tubing? Despite the chips in the paint here and there and the chrome missing (rust?) on the headset, I still think I got a decent deal. It rides great and shifts fine. I got it for $125. What do you think? -Bob

For $125 you did very nicely. That is a fine riding bike - as Bianchigirl suggested Columbus tretubi with Aelle stays. One suggestion - if you plan to ride it much, you may want would to replace those Modolo Sporting brakes which are not very effective. A $40 investment into a set of Tektro's will be well worth the added safety.

great looking Bianchi! I agree on the brakes, at the very least put new, but the same size (not those new super thin ones) brake pads. the Campi brake blocks for '94ish with rounded ends (again not the lower profile type) should fit those holders nicely.

Thanks to everyone for the input! I've been using it as my "around town" bike and I really like it. I should probably put some new tires on it and I'm torn between...are they called "gumwalls" or something like that? Not quite whitewalls, or just some modern black tires. Also, I'm considering Celeste bar tape. Any opinions on these two issues? Also, included with the bike was a Celeste pump that can be seen in the original photo from the ad. The pump itself looks brand new. I forgot to attach it to the frame for the pictures. -Bob

I am a huge fan of gumwall tires, like what was/is on the bike, and the Pannaracer Pasela is a nice tire for the price. as for the tape, while some here may think I actually bleed Celetse, i shy away from it for handlebar tape. I like to use blue cable housing and tape to help 'pop' the decals a bit. also if the bike is going to be a daily rider the new cork celeste tapes can show dirt pretty quick
