I wake up in the morning and want to ride. All the way to work (in my car), I'm looking for urban stuff on the side of the road to play on. All day at work...I'm hating everything about the place...b/c all I can think about is going for a ride. All the way home...I'm wishing I would'a thrown my bike on the rack so I could stop somewhere OTW home and play. While I'm home playing with the kids...I'm just thinking about riding.

I talk the kids into going for a ride after dinner down the street to the movie store. I'm all stoked b/c I'm gonna take the Parker and jump off everything I can find all the way down there. I'm gonna hit the neighbor's retaining wall, the hump in the yard at the top of the street, the curb humps, the steep berm next to the sidewalk 1/2 way there...

...my 4y.o. pipes up right before we get the bikes out...

"Daddy, I wanna ride the 'trail-a-bike'."

:notamused:

No curb hopping for me tonight. (http://t1.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcQQTREwMVpEAuoCDWTsSCEcFYtZL-8jpmgMyjB7Wpsf5kem86OEAQ)

Ed, you need to locate a pumptrack. Depending on the pumptrack, your kids will have a blast and you can get your mtb fix in at the same time.

More than anything, I'm hating myself for selling my truck for a motorcycle. Did I really think motorcycles would replace my passion for mountain biking? How could I have been so stupid? And now even when I could be getting a car any day now, I'm at the mercy of my dad because he's helping me pay for all the things I can't afford about cars (insurance & what-not). I see the beautiful 70 degree weather passing by & I struggle to keep my mouth shut because I learned early on not to bite the hand that feeds. But I want to go to the trails NOW!

Exactly what I was thinking, D. I just didn't have the energy to search for it.

Believe you me, I considered the 2x2, but the installation interfered with my Givi rack. I would've had to uninstall the Givi that I use every day for carrying anything and everything that fits in it, to install the 2x2, which would have been more expensive than listed on the site because he would have to custom make a mounting plate for my SV. I spent countless hours trying to find some way to practically transport my bike, but everything was too expensive or too difficult. And now winter is just around the corner and I can't do another winter on a bike. I don't want to ruin something I've grown to love.

It hasn't stopped me on the days when I have the energy to whip put the buggy cords. Im on my obnoxiously laggy phone, but if you search for last summers 'who rides motorcycles?' thread, you'll see how it can be done with a lot of motivation and an extra half hour to secure.

Many years ago, I sold my Econoline van and got a VW Bug - - but it didn't stop me from hauling my motocross bike around with me.And as for the Bug, you can put a trailer hitch on any car. I considered it for my bike (with a special mount specifically for motorcycles) but decided against it when I saw the price of trailers.

Oh, you saw that post before I thought better of it and deleted it. No, no - - was not a trailer hitch/trailer. I took off both front and back wheels, unbolted the handlebar clamps and put it across the back seat

But I see your point about the type of rack you have - - with the top case, it would not lend itself to rigging up a bike carrier too.
