Introductions - Greetings from Denver Colorado.

I'm no bike expert but have riden for years for transportation. I have just recently got into fixing up reparing old bikes as well as volunteering at the local free bike collective helping build and repair old bikes those in need or often just people who can't afford the local bike shop prices here in Denver many of the shops have a $50 minimum on repairs and tuneups. I thought this would be a good place to get informationa and advice as I need it and maybe help with others questions problems with repairs.

I don't know about the Denver stores, but I've found the Boulder stores to be pretty reasonable (and I'm not just talking about BV and Performance either). More than a few times they've fixed stuff for me in exchange for a case of beer.

Well in Denver right now you have to shop around a bit and find a store that focuses on repairs most of the shops are retail stores that are in the business of selling new bikes and only do repairs so they can say their a full service shop. Plus they seem to often have different prices wise bike guys than reatail customers. As for riding I ride almost exclusively in town as a way to get around Denver is a surprisingly good city to get around on a bike if you know the routes plus the local public transit is bike friendly so I often but my bike on the front rack of the bus for some routes.

I used to hate driving around Denver. Whenever I went into the city, I always used to throw my BMX bike in the trunk, park the car, and use the 20" to get around!

I'm liking the new Bike Source shops I think.

When going downtown I def prefer taking my 26er -- beats driving, parking, and walking.

I for one don't like riding downtown all that much 15th,18th and Broadway can be almost suicidal to ride on a bike at times. Plus the Denver Police have started issueing $80 tickets if you ride on the sidewalk trying not to get run over but do nothing to enforce traffic laws to make it safe to ride on the street.

No probs at all riding downtown so far, streets or sidewalks. I haven't ridden on Broadway and don't intend to.
