Hi all. Just thought I'd share my entry to the folding bike subculture. And say "thanks" to everyone in this forum because my lurking and searching here helped me find a bike that fit my need/desire.

I'm in Vancouver, Canada, but the Brompton stock situation isn't so good here with local dealers and nobody could give me a confident delivery date for a superlight model order. So to not foul some upcoming travel plans I had to look south for my bike. I found *exactly* what I wanted, in stock, in Portland, Oregon. Thank you and bike thumbs up to the owner (Martina) and staff (Jeremy, Dean, etc.) at Clever Cycles.

In 3 days, I've had this thing all over Portland and Vancouver, on the Amtrak and subway, and it will find itself on several ferries to/from the island this weekend.

The ride is really impressive for a "compromise" bike that folds. The extended Ti seatpost gives the expected flex, but I got used to that and the small wheels almost immediately. I put Ergon GR2 grips onto the handlebar, and they're fantastic.

That's a C-Bag on the S-style bars. Very slight cable rub, but I will keep an eye on it and I don't expect it to turn into a problem. It carries a heavily laden C-bag extremely well. Really impressed with that.

Vancouver is a relatively hilly city and I'm used to a singlespeed for my city bike, so the 2 speed was a great choice for me. It has the low end when I don't want to stand up or break a sweat, and it keeps things simpler, lighter, and possibly quieter. There is a bit of noise (chainline?) running the large cog, but most of the time is spent on the small cog.

Time will tell if the Kojaks stand up to street debris.

Cheers.

Hmm, perhaps. I have a B17 Ti that I love on on a rando bike with a level saddle-to-bars setup, but I'm not sure it's a choice saddle when the drop to the bars is several inches. Will try.

Thought I saw a bike exactly like yours on the Canada Line at one point in time? That is an awesome color! How much
is one of this set you back? Clever Cycles and Universal Cycles are great places to shop when I am down there from time to time.

Congrats! I recently bought a Brompton myself. Added Ergons and a Brooks B-17 within a day of receiving it. Took the older Brooks saddle and grips off my mountain bike and ordered replacements for that bike the same day.

I've probably put close to 100 miles on it now and used it exclusively in Boise last week. It's lots of fun to ride and with the reduced gearing is capable of anything I'm capable of.

I feel your pain. I'm in Vancouver, too, and also looking to buy a Brompton. There are only two Brompton dealers in town with exactly two bikes between them. The better of the two at the moment is Whoa Nellie on Main, where the owner keeps his personal S2L Brompton in the shop for test rides, and is bringing in a couple of floor models at the end of the month. One will be a M6R, which I want to try to see if the M bars suit my 6 foot height better than S bars (or a MTB riser bar installed on a S stem). Then I'll finally order a bike.

I will be very interested to hear how you make out with the Kojaks. Vancouver streets are cleaner than many other cities I've ridden in, and I suspect you won't have undue problems with punctures. I'm leaning towards the stock Brompton Kevlar tires, but am intrigued by the lighter weight and lower rolling resistance of the Kojaks.

Congratulations on the new bike. I particularly like the colour. It's what I would pick if I hadn't already decided on raw lacquer, so you won't have to worry about a copycat bike in Vancouver. :)

Got a Tax savings, buying in Oregon, too

Thor's Aberhollo would give a wee bit more bar height/overbag clearance,
if the cable length allows..

Right. Will consider something like that, or possibly just an MTB mid-rise bar if I want my controls up in that direction. Thx.
