Specialized Allez EX dura ace dated 1980 with E on components. A lot of work to the allez if you remember mine first post went i found the bike. Still got to get a new seat for the Allez. Found the Lotus SuperPro on craiglist here in montgomery, alabama. 1981 with F on all components for the date code of 1981. AX components. Only thing i have done to the Lotus is a lot of cleaning up. Can anyone give me a value on the bikes? Would not sale them for anything. Just wanted to know the value.

Lotus might be pushing $1000 to the right buyer. Allez parted out would yield more than complete. DA AX bits are on ebay quite a bit. Figure 30% to 40% premium for part out. So if the parts go for X, you will get less than that for the complete Allez IMHO.

At a yard sale in AL? You must find better sales than the ones I have hit around here :)

Nice Lotus!

I'll agree with wrk101 that the bike should be worth a grand to the right buyer. With the exception of the little Shimano aero brake cable clip, it looks like it has all the important original bits on it. Although, I have seen these bikes sit unsold on craigslist in the under $500.00 range. In my opinion, the Super Pro isn't really a rare bicycle, except in completely original condition.

I just bought the lotus last friday off craiglist here in alabama. The guy i bought it from, purchased the bike new in 1982. He told me it was all orginal. He even give me the 4 little books for the shimano aero dynamics components. Not for sure how many of these little books are still around. (see pic above.)

$15???? Holy crap. Forget the bikes, the little Shimano books are worth more than that! That's a better deal than any I've ever come across.

Send pictures to vintagelotusbicycles last night. Tim told me he saw the bike on craiglist here in alabama.

I've only seen one Lotus like that and it sold on ebay for $650...I regret not bidding more.

As per norm, I think wrk's comments are on point. There is someone out there who who'd probably pay $1,000...but finding him might not be easy or fast. Generally, Dura Ace AX is poorly regarded and not especially desired by most collectors - prices fluctuate greatly depending on if two people who want it happen to be looking at the same time. It's a weird bike without enough sales to have an easily predicted market IMO.

A bike ahead of it time. And now they made them all with hidden cables and air dynamics. Best thing about it rides so good, the faster you go the better it handles.

If you find another one on e-bay get it.

Here is my story on this Super Pro.

I saw it on craigslist the first day it was listed, the photo was the usual tiny picture and was the exact photo of a 58 cm Super Pro I'd seen previously published in this forum, I even had saved the image in my Super Pro file.

The listed price for the bicycle was $95.00. I assumed it was a mistake, or a scam. I immediately contacted the seller to express interest, and confirm the price.

I quickly recieved a reply that the price was accurate. I sent a reply offering the seller $350.00 if he would ship it to me, assuming the bicycle was in poor condition from the photo. I also asked for additional photos.

The seller sent photos of the bicycle shown here, of course it wasn't the 58 cm bike in the originally posted photos. He said he'd check on shipping the bike. When I asked why the bicycle posted first wasn't the same bicycle as the photos he sent me, he seemed confused but then said it was posted by accident.

A day later he wrote me a note stating he had local interest in the bike and thought it was only "fair" that he offer it to them first.

When I checked his listing he had raised the price on the bike to to a price above my offer. I think it sat on craigslist over a week until rweaver picked it up.

Snydermann,

I think you saw the 95.00 superpro large frame bike on Yakaz. I also saw the 95.00 one there one night, but went i click on it, took me out to the montgomery,al craiglist and the superpro there was 395.00 which was right because i seen it before on montgomery,al craiglist for 395.00 and seen it in person, but didn't made an offer at that time. Maded me also wonder what was going on with Yakaz. And i have seen that bike picture on this forum also the big frame one. Then a few day later the price on montgomery,al craiglist went down to 375.00 Not for sure went you made the offer to him. I was in Panama City Beach,fl. went i made a offer and send him a small deposit paypal to hold it till i got back home that friday to come pick it up. That why he still had it on montgomery,al craiglist in case i didn't come get it.

Nice find! I love the Lotus bikes in general.
Post your find on the Lotus bike thread and the 81 aero bikes thread.

I found my SuperPro out for trash on the side of the road a couple years ago!
Free plus some cleaning. It's just too gorgeous a bike to sell. I keep waffling because I just know I will never put it to good use. But I like it soooo muuch!
