"Cold Beer and Crocodiles, A bicycle Journey into Australia," by Roff Smith, published by the National Geographic Society..ISBN 0-7922-6365-0. (paperback ed).
My daughter found and sent me this book last week for my birthday, said it reminded her my journals. It contains a fasinating account of a 10,000 mile bicycle, self-contained, solo trip around the perimeter of Australia. There is something that will strike a cord in all of you, whether you are a seasoned cycle traveller, a first timer or an armchair quarterback!
I do not know the author and I am not plugging the book for any sales purposes; I just think it can enlighten your evenings as it has mine the last few nights, and shed some practical knowledge of touring.
So, that said, if you have not read this book before, you should avail yourself the opportunity.
It's all for Pie!
