Classic and Vintage Bicycles: What's it Worth? Appraisals and Inquiries - What is this "Dogs Breakfast" Bianchi ??

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I picked up this little gem today because my wife said that I deserved to have a nicer road bike. She liked the looks of it and it was going cheap. I suspect it is a bit of a dogs breakfast but the frame is my favourite size (23 inches) and it is a deep rich pink. The sticker on the tube is a bit damaged but roughly says "TRE TUBI IFORZATI Bianchi Formula Uno Prozion Columbus" and the stickers on the forks say: Fodero Forcella Bianchi Formula Columbus". Brake levers are very nice & callipers are marked Flyer Modolo. Gear change levers & BOTH derailleurs are Campagnolo. Rims are 700C alloy Vuelta Classics. Cranks are "Stronglight". Sprockets look good.
See pix.
What was this before it got "improved" ??

I can't speak to the origins of the Bianchi, but you can be certain I will add the phrase "dog's breakfast" to my vocabulary.

nice color it looks like something called Electric Rose. why do you call it a "dogs breakfast'? and assume it has been modified or 'Improved'? lots of Bianchis and other bikes often came with mixed Italian parts to help make price points. this bike looks to have a standard Bianchi mix of Campi derailleurs and other Italian marques for the other parts.
now as for the bike.... it most likely is a Canadian market so hopefully a Canuck C&Ver will chime in. the decals make it look around '88 or '89 here but they could have been used in Canada earlier or later. the only models I see here with Modolo Flyers is the '87 Super Leggera or Trofeo (trofeo being a lower model) I suspect this ios some '88 or '89 model like a Squadra, Trofeo but without Canadian catalogs I have no way of knowing.
OH is the tubing Formula 1 or 2?

BG: Thanks for chiming in. My wife says that you have the inside track on this sort of thing.
I have ridden it, briefly. It is a delight to ride.
Soon to become my favourite Bianchi............
The shifter levers are set to friction and the tubes are Formula Two.
