Mountain Biking - Fun with a Newbie and a Video. A small crash and comment.

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
This vid is short and sweet and is mostly of my friend Nila. She is a newbie to Mtn Biking and therefore a pleasure to be behind with a video camera :thumb: There is a clip of me at the end on a fast single track run, but the fun is at the beginning.
Pay attention at :15 and listen very close at :30 Nila gives her thought about :15
btw....xrays were involved on the shoulder later:(

That is awesome! I wish we had some nice easy trails like that around here (that I could find) cause some stuff like that is what I'm wanting to start my Fiance on. She is wanting to try mountain biking, but the only trails I know of (cause they are the only ones I do ) are either really technical climbs and desents, or fast single tracks that are back in the woods with large tree roots, and spots with only 2.5-3" of clearance, and that stuff would not be good starter stuff for her, it would actually scare that crap out of her and discourage her :(. I hope I can eventually get her out on the trails, falling over, saying "I love this $h1T"

Thanks for the video. That kinda fun is why we do it. Tell Nila, we all feel her pain, its spills like that that help us discover the inner beast within us all. Nice scenery!

Thanks for sharing! :thumb:
The last time I brought a newbie out on a "my first mountain bike ride" trail, she didn't fall at all. Instead, she got to watch me go over the bars while doing nose wheelies in the parking lot while she was learning how to use the shifters. :notamused:

Where in southern illinois is that singletrack?

I live in Anna and that singletrack is just across the River (Mississippi) in Jackson MO. Called Klaus Park. It is a county park that worked with the local Mtn. Bike community and allowed them to create about 5 miles of nicely designed single track. This video does not do the park justice. It's pretty sweet for this neck of the woods.

Do you ever ride in the STL area? And if so, do you know of any trails in this area that are about that difficulty? I've been looking for some really easy trails to get my fiancé started on. I ride things like the chubb trail pictured below, and they are way to technical for her. She has never really ever ridden, so I don't wanna take her on anything that has roots, and jumps that might scare or discourage her. BTW, if you are ever in the STL area I highly recommend trying Chubb or Greensfelder, both are amazing fast trails.
