I'm pretty sure this is a 1984 Miyata 710. Is this a good deal?

From craigslist: 58cm Miyata road bike, twelve speed, 700c wheels, aluminum.Mint condition. Awesome for getting around Dgo. 90$

Well, its anything but "mint". So I paid $70.
.
There's a tiny almost invisible dent in the top tube.
A "new" shimano derailleur
Lots of paint scratches.
Its also clearly not a 58cm
and look at that horrible sticker on the drive side.
But a really nice bike, given all that.

He's a smart seller. He put a pair of pants over the beat-up saddle! What a clown!

But in truth, for $70, I think it looks pretty darn good. And the 710 is a nice riding, mid-to-top level bike, so ride it well!

What is up with that driver side sticker anyway?

with a bit of work and some new bar tape you will have a great bike !! have fun taking the sticker off I use a blow dryer and it works well !! nice score over all !!

I will NEVER EVER believe a seller's appraisal on the condition of a used bike. They're wrong about 99.9% of the time, as you've found out. It absolutely must be seen to assess.

A steal for vintage steel! Love that contrasting head tube. Enjoy, and post pics of any refurbishments! PS: You may want to check your BB for rust. Those grooved Laprade seatposts, while cool, can direct water right down the seat tube...I found (and corrected) that problem on an old Miyata 610.
