Mountain Biking - What do you Northwest coasters do all winter?

I'm near Portland and I just got a mountain bike this summer. If you know anything about the west coast, you know it rains here pretty much 24/7 all winter. For those in the area, what do you ride all winter? I imagine all the dirt trails will be covered in a foot of mud and gravel roads will be the only thing rideable.

I've been a road rider for over a year so I'll just be riding on the roads for awhile. If anyone's from the Portland area, Hagg lake is the closest trail to me and its my favorite so far.

I XC ski, haul wood and plow snow.

I will be spending my rainy days digging and sculpting dirt into sweet trails to ride when the good weather returns :)

I'm leaving Tuesday for San Diego with a car full of bicycles. I live on my boat in San Diego bay and spend the winter riding in the beautiful hills and mountains of San Diego county. Did you know there are 8 miles of nice single track right in the heart of San Diego city. Just a mile from downtown?

San Diego riders are funny - I see them with full cold weather gear when it is 58 degrees and I'm still wearing shorts and a long sleeve jersey. I guess if you grow up there you get used to that wonderful 68 degree winter sunshine and 58 feels cold.

With 40 years of Puget Sound winter bicycling - 58 degree sunshine in January looks and feels like heaven!

If you are really into it you will get out there and ride. If my bike worked and I could get people to actually go with me, I would go. As long as the weather was above freezing, I'm not into ice riding, I'm into having fun.

I mostly do road riding so I will stick to that as long as the weather is above 40°. So most likely will be doing a lot of roller training and watching Netflix.

I put studs on and commute - riding along the RR tracks makes for exciting riding in 6" of snow.

Hagg is a no-go in the winter, as is most singletrack.

I like riding the forest roads in the coast range. The gravel becomes firm/solid. Exploring the older double tracks is fun and it does not really matter if they are mucky.
