The Trek Navigator 3 is my "oldest" bike. It is a bit too heavy, at 37 pounds, to lift without a concerted effort onto my Sirrus Bones 2 rack. I'm a 5'2" 120 lb female. Since upgrading my 2012 Trek 7.5 fx (platform pedals, GC3 grips, saddle, Ritchey adjustable stem), I've priced the 7.5 to where I no longer want to "kryptonite" it to a public area, which was my original intent for purchasing the 7.5fx. I prefer my 7.5 fx for longer and more "roadie" type trips on highway-like settings. I've decided to turn back to my trusty Trek Navigator 3 for local 10-15 mile trips, where I can "krytonite" it to a post for an hour or so (lunching, window shopping, museums, etc)
I have ordered Fyxation light-weight platform pedals http://www.fyxation.com/shop/product.php?id_product=10 for the Trek Navigator 3, since I love my Azonic 420 platforms on my Trek 7.5, and wanted to remain in a more affordable budget for the Nav 3. I would like to lop off about 3-5 pounds from this bike without incurring too much expense. I'm think of the area of crankset, handlebars, seat, etc.
