O rder one from Amazon... package came in, bllated, case, stand... but no razor. I managed to get a refurn without having to ship the stuff back... still, I have no freaking razor.

Went to walmart, target, kmart.... they sell the blades, but no razor.

Where oh where I can find the razor? You guys and your shaving threads awaken the desire in me, now I want it and I don't know where to get it.

Do yourself a favor and get a good one. I use a Merkur (German made). Shop around for the best prices. Amazon, etc.
Some larger cities may have stores devoted to shaving, but I have to internet/mail order here in podunk.

+1 to Merkur and internet orders.

Yup. Order online. I haven't seen one in a store in decades.

Oh, and spend a few dollars for a new keyboard too. :)

OK, I ordered a Merkur online. I visited 3 beauty shops and no luck so I guess online is the only way. Next day shipping was only 3.99 so I hit it and should be here tomorrow. Also, Microsoft wireless keyboard and mouse @ 19.99 on comp usa... got 2 sets :D

Now...comes the "which blade is the best" thread. For the record, Feather is the sharpest I've found (not necessarily my favorite, I don't think I've found a favorite). They are so sharp many people, I've read, dull them a bit on a cork before using them. YMMV

Never heard of those but quickie internet research determines that this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HW17mVZqnjI) >>> this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ePwi5M2AJAQ), definitely.

I'm currently using the Shark Super Chrome blades. I bought a 100 pack from Amazon, so I'd better like them. They are better than the ones I can get at the local drugstore.

+1 to both of these. I got my straight razor setup from Classic, and I get my soaps and such from Art of Shaving since it's right down the street from my apartment.

Well I was going to say I have an old adjustable razor I'd ship you, but it looks like you'll have your Merkur soon. I've been using Feather blades for a few years now and I'm happy with them. I tried Merkur blades before that and they were fine too, but I like the Feathers a little more. Haven't tried any others yet.

First off Rube, stop visiting beauty shops, this is just wrong for a dude unless you're jumping over the rainbow.

Hone those old blades by rubbing them inside a glass and store in veggie oil.

Don't worry my northern friend, I got it covered. I have t-shirt with a picture of myself holding my little girl. I wear it on those questionable occasions and people automatically assume I'm getting something for her.
