Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

lol sweet pics dminor. :D do you do DH racing?Only for about 11 years now ;).
Each of those pics above were race shots of me, except the one from last year at Whistler. I'd have thought the number plates and course tape would be a dead giveaway.
Nice shots you got there, BTW. Sol Vista footage just makes me want to go there all the more. Reminds me a lot of Silver Mtn in idaho. Only GoPro footage I have of me was from last summer at Whistler - -taken by our own world-famous Forums resident never:

Its worth the trip, especially given its proximity to to Winter Park (which is amazing as well) and Keystone (which could be good with some trail maintenance). Sol Vista lacks the vert of most other places out here, but thats made up for by some of the best trails I've ever ridden as well as by the fact that there is never any lift lines, and hardly anyone on the trails. Honestly, silky johnson is super out of place compared to the rocky gnar of the other trails.
And damn, you guys rip
Hmmmmmmmm...I've never been to either one ca7, but I was under the impression that Keystone was the best place in the Conti US. (this was a few yrs ago when I was told that) Is WP the place to visit then?

In my opinion, Keystone would have been the place to visit a few years ago, however, Vail resorts apparently doesnt find trail maintenance important (their trail crew is their bike patrol, so not much trail work gets done). Keystone is by far the most technical of any bike park I've ever ridden. WP is very well maintained, has amazing flow, plus their "DH Race" trail is probably my favorite thing of all times (not favorite trail, just literally the best thing I've ever done in my life); I suspect the trails there were designed by the same people who designed stuff at Whistler (same parent company). I was lucky enough to get out here a few weeks before school started and live with a friend at keystone, so I got to ride Keystone, WP, and Sol Vista on consecutive days. If you're visiting from out of state I'd recommend staying around Winter Park that way you're 30 minutes from SV and an hour and a half from Keystone, plus WP has some good camping around it if you look for it. Its also worth the trip for sure down to Crested Butte (really awkward to get to though), only got to ride a couple of the trails before I bit it on a huge table and couldnt ride any more, but its def fantastic.
We stayed in Avon last fall, after all the parks had closed, unfortunately, but did a lot of day-tripping/exploring. Stopped at Sol Vista one day and it looked like a small-but-cool place with a good vibe. Sure wished I'd done the Nat Champs there. From everything I saw, the course looked like a blast. Trestle is also definitely on my 'must-do' list next time we go down for sure. Yeti Tribe Meet was at Trestle this year - - another event that I really wished I'd been able to go to.
It's easier for us to get somewhere to stay in Breck, which wouldn't be bad - - Keystone's relatively close and WP and SV are only 1½ and 2 hrs away respectively.

Sol Vista is a super down to earth place, contrary to most resorts, they're really not trying to screw you but I guess I shouldnt say anything remotely bad about keystone, after all, I got my tickets every day for 12$ :P
