Mountain Biking - Sponsorship

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

You're not going to get a sponsor by asking, you have to prove yourself and show you are worthy of one...try asking a local bike shop, maybe make a video before you go in and just tell them you want a sponsorship, that doesnt necesarily mean free bikes it could mean free tune ups, stuff thats little, but matters!
Check the Powerbar website. They give grants up to $10,000 for folks to improve in their sport. You have to do a short essay, and they give out these grants about 3 times a year.

Do a quick search as well. This has been covered once a week in the past month :)
This is a reply I have done in another thread to this question
First approach a LBS and ask them about it and think (and be honest to yourself) are you really some good riders? Are these drops actually 10 foot and are you fast at DH? One of the best ways to get sponsorship is to race DH and be consistently in the top 3. This will get the attention of low companies and your LBS and then you can work your way up.
Also, don't expect to get much, you will (if you get sponsorship) ony get grassroots at max, this means you get things at cost or (most usualy for newly sponsored) at cost plus X%. Grass roots gives you more exposure and the ability to possibly get better sponsorship. Really it's grassroots because, they like it when you grow, but don't mind gutting you when things get tough. Really the best bet you have is to approach your LBS.

Or with Maxxis, you just have to have some kind of positive impact on the industry or in the mtbing field or in advocacy.
