Foo - Is calling someone a troll akin to calling one a racist?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Seems that it is the word of choice for those who have nothing to say? and how does one come back from such a comment. I actually feel badly for some of the folks here who for some unknown reason feel the need to mock and attack others who "dare" not subscribe to some wacked out ideology of keeping old school classics unchanged or risk being a "troll".
weird....maybe getting alife would be a good start. :thumb:
Why is this post in this section?

Off topic sir. From what I know, being a troll is starting a thread with the intent to stir something up or bring up a beaten dead horse topic just to do it. Racism? That discussion doesn't belong in here buddy.
PS: are we being trolled by a thread about trolls? Hahaha

Welcome to the forum.
Not sure, exactly, of your motives in being here, but welcome just the same.
It is unclear just what you had in mind when you originally posted, and it still isn't.
Have fun, feel free to post your interests in the C&V bikes.

troll alert!!
As it regards your other thread, I think the comment was tongue-in-cheek.

I don't condone offensive posts. However, with over 1000 posts, you should've known what is the predominant feeling about nice classic / vintage bicycles in this forum. I think that's why some members thought you were a troll.
BTW, I don't think being called a troll affects your honor that much.

That's not a prerequisite for being a troll although it could apply in this forum. Trolls post ridiculous things just to elicit a response. Coming to the C&V and proposing Sschweet Fixaying a 1975 Colnago is a good troll post.
It would appear that this post refers to responses you got to another post or posts. I haven't read them so can't reply directly to that.
But, no, Troll does not equal Racist.

Trolls are what we yoopers call people who live below the bridge. Right now, I live in the land of trolls. It's not too bad, but I miss the big lake and a good pasty.
Tricky... a troll (the comment itself) is a comment made to evoke an *emotional* response. If the emotions being played are racist in nature, you can say is a racist troll. When a troll (the person making the troll comment) gets called out, his trolling heart might get hurt and he can get emotional himself. This would be referred to as "trolling the troll" which in such a case would be a troll in itself.
You can troll the troll without becoming a troll yourself. It takes a troll to troll the troll. If you find it offensive to be a troll, then by calling out a troll, you are trolling the troll *and* you are trolling yourself.
Hope it helps. :D

So the question is, is wanting a burrito akin to calling someone a racist?
Yes. Unequivocally yes.

Oh, I'm no longer a troll having moved out east, but was born a troll and do love a good pasty when I find my way north of the bridge.

Ooh, a pasty (http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=pasties) made out of pasty (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pasty). That could be kinky...
Or it could be good delicious fun.

I had something to say.. then I kept reading... I hardly ever actually see the word troll used other then when someone is actually trolling... I know I've ruffled quite a few retrogrouch feathers especially with what I did to that le tour... but still no one ever called me a troll :D Hell once I explained myself I even got a few compliments... think it's all a matter of perspective. And yes I know I got trolled into writing this response.
