Any of you affected? About half of our law firm's blackberry users are unable to send/receive e-mails.

According to this CNN article (http://www.cnn.com/2011/10/12/tech/mobile/blackberry-outage/?hpt=us_c2), there appears to be some sort of worldwide outage going on.

One reason I'm glad I don't have a blackberry. Other phones will work, such as my Android and don't rely on some worldwide service provided by the manufacturer of the phone.

It's a tribute to Steve Jobs - three day silence.

What did one Blackberry say to the other Blackberry?

Nothing.

Nothing.

How can it say "Nothing" and still say nothing?

Refer to an article by Doug McIlroy titled "The UNIX and the Echo (http://everything2.com/title/The+UNIX+and+the+Echo)" for an explanation of my question.

And, yes. Of course I have the book referenced. It's currently open to page 78. ;)

But they say that he died of a surfeit of notation before he ever heard one.

I have a dumbphone, so wasn't affected.... except I got to hear about it from those that have the BBs at work. I work in IT, so I'm supposed to be able to fix it. :twitchy:

We have our own BES (Blackberry Enterprise Server) so actual work email (mostly) worked. People were complaining they couldn't get to their Yahoo mail.

I do field service on office equipment and our service calls are dispatched using Blackberries. Instead of being able to close our calls and receive the new ones over the system we had to call our support center to get our next call. Hold times of around 45 minutes.

So, how many iPhones and Android phones got sold all week, as people realize the push content model for mobiles is inferior and continued to abandon RIM?
