I have the hollowtech II SLX triple mountain crank and keep breaking the spacer on the non-drive side (the 2 on the drive side are fine).

Why is this? Does the orientation of the spacer matter? I'm not applying more torque than what is specified before I get cracking.

bb faced and chased?i cant really see any other way they would break. most materials are really strong in compression

If it's a hardened washer,no like bendy........it will crack.Drag a file across washer,if it doesn't cut,it's hard or case hard.

Make sure there are no burrs or paint drips on the BB face.If it looks good,sounds like the BB needs to be faced.
