Any suggestions on replacing a 9 speed Ultegra 6500 rear deraileur? I have a 3 speed Dura Ace crank and 105 shifters. Can I use 6600 or 6700. Should it be short cage or long cage? I also torqued my chain. So should I replace my cassette as well. I have about 9,000 miles on these parts?

Get a long cage in any replacement since you are using a triple crank. If the chain and cassette both have 9000 miles, certainly replace them both at the same time.
Did you damage your current rear derailleur or is there another specific reason for replacing it?

why are you replacing it? does "I also torqued my chain" mean it was damaged?
I am with HillRider just get something like a 105/600 or even Deore log cage

Yea it's ruined. I twisted it when.......let's see now. I think when the 150 lb boxer came out of nowhere. I broke the hanger, the derailleur went into the spokes. Yea that must have done it. I escaped with a stoved up thumb.

OK, you do make a good argument for replacement. :)
After you replace the hanger and check that it is aligned properly, get a long cage 105 or Ultegra replacement or, if you want to be able to use a very wide range cassette (11x34 for example), get a 9-speed era MTB rear derailleur.
