Alt Bike Culture - What are you planning to build over the winter?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Or summer, if you're in that part of the world.

We have tons of BSO's at the co-op. My first tallbike was pretty crappy, so I'm planning to build one where the steering tubes actually align and the brazing doesn't look lumpy.

i mean to paint this bike

i actually got it mechanicly done last spring, but it rode so nice i didn't want to take it apart just to paint it while the weather was nice for riding. the plan is to have it ready in case i want to use it for the memorial day mayors bike ride.

beyond that, i have project add. there's a handful of other projects, so i'll work on whatever i find parts, cash, or ideas for.

you know? i started making some for my brothers and sisters (yes, diy) and most of them said the same thing. without trying it they just said they couldn't ride one, even though for the past few years if they saw me riding, it was on a bike like this. at best, all i could get a couple of them to do is teeter down the drive without getting enough speed up for the gyro action to kick in and make the bike stable. which to them proved their point and they wouldn't try them again. one of my brother's did seem to like his some and tried it up and down the street a few times, but his health is failing a little so i still have his, too. it's very disheartning.

ok, little side rant over. the small upside is i have a few to experiment with. at least one will be a stretch cruiser cargo bike attempt.

Going to make a surfboard-inspired rack for my Varsity cruiser (see signature). Also want to create a cool lighting system. I have and old glass VW taillight and a VW Squareback backup light. Bought 5 LED flashlights at Home Depot for $8.00. Just got to make it work- this bike is a rider.

Very cool. I'd ride it.

Always fancied the idea of building a replica of obree's old faithful, or something that looks similar.

so many ideas, so little...time, opportunity....
i've already started a moving bottom bracket recumbent, i got a kickbike to do, and the steer tube of my tall bike needs re-welding after 7 years !
