I'm a little confused. The suicide brake levers usually appear on low end bikes, but the rest of the bike appears rather nice (forged crankset, downtube shifters, 700c wheels, etc.) Perhaps the brake levers are not original.

I'd pay $200 max. I sold a 1988 Peugeot last year with similar components (Shimano 2x6 Light Action) for $175. Sometimes I wish I still had it...

Hmm, so the brake levers aren't safe? How much would it cost to change them and is it something you can do yourself?

I would not say they brake levers are not safe, they are just not the best levers out there. the upper portion of the levers the so called "safety levers" are not really meant to stop you. if the brakes are correctly adjusted the regular portion of the brake lever should stop you OK.

can you get more info on the bike? if the frame is not CroMoly of some level, including the fork, I would not go much over $125-150

Ok I'll definitely ask about the chromoly. Judging from the pictures, is there anything else I should look out for/ask about?

Thanks a bunch
