Classic and Vintage Bicycles: What's it Worth? Appraisals and Inquiries - 70s? Viner road bike

I´ve recently got hold of this Viner road bike. My plan was originally to restore it but to many bikes are keeping my attention so my plan is now to sell it and therefore wonder what it is and could be worth.

What I know:
Frame: Viner Pistoia, tubing: Tubi Speciale In Acciaio, color: Gold
Rims: Nisi (tube)
Hubs: Michelin
Crankset: Sugino Supermighty
Gears: Suntour VX
Brakes: Weinmann

The stem looks dangerously high.

The bike is in the $200 range. the frame is nothing special as far as tubing "name", in fact it's no name tubing. It probably rides beyond its metal.
The saddle is probably worth a decent amount separately.
It would be a great wet weather bike or training bike, it will function well, just no "respect"

Probably a nice bike, but it doesn't have the big name that would bring the cash (Bianchi, Peugeot, etc.) Also, and maybe it's just the pictures, but it doesn't look particularly attractive. No offense, just my personal opinion.

Get it all nice and clean and you could maybe squeeze $250 if you're really lucky.

I agree it looks like it was a nice bike in its day but nothing special, maybe on the scale of a Bianchi Campione de Italia or Limited. I don't think I ever actually touched a Viner but I believe they a nice cult following. it is too bad you can't fix this but but I understand how it goes, I have 3 in the que one of which has been waiting since last october but keeps getting bumped.

as to the value.... you say you recently got it? well I would say the value is right around what you paid for it. I agree the price would be right around $200. if you willing to take the time to box her up you can ebay her and maybe pocket a bit more.

I think CL or ebay she will sell faster with a good cleaning and quick coat of pledge. others here will gasp, harumphff, and grind and mash their theeth when they read this but, grab the bike, a big bottle simple green, a bottle brush and your garden hose or the local self serve carwash. I find it takes 10-15 scrubb up a bike that, way you just need to be careful of the decals.

The short dropouts say later 70's, but if they are Campagnolo, not that late as they do not have the chain rest mounts. The shift levers are 70's, the equipment to me says 70's.
I would say '76, '77, '78. Not a big difference for bikes up till the mid 80's.
The more I look at it the more it is appealing, too big, so not that type of appeal.
This is the kind of bike that a test ride will validate its price and beyond.

those don't look like campagnolo dropouts to me. I rode a Viner for many years and really like it. I don't believe that the OP is in the U.S. The Viners in the U.S. were imported by Gus Betat, and they only had one model for the period of time I was familiar with them. Columbus SL, nice lugs, nice but fragile paint jobs.

The VX-s derailers on this bike date it as most likely being 79-82 model you should be able to confirm this by the date code on the crank which is a letter and number on most sugino cranks of this era H=78, I=79 extra and the number is the month. As for the value $200 seems about right.
