I found this part while working on my 1980 Schwinn Women's World Sport. What is it? My best guess is a "ferrule" or cable end cap. How can I use it if it is? If it's not, what the hell is it?223000223001223002

The part is too out of focus to tell. Hold it closer to your face which is in focus.

in the first pic it almost looks like a cable guide that snapped off

Looks to me like a string tie for a storage bag. Does it have a spring release?

What it really looks like is a cable end for a much bigger cable than would be found on a bicycle.
