I need to replace my BB, ISIS, and eBay has VP BB, ever heard of them? Any good? Worth $10 plus shipping.

No and kinda unlikely at that price, but you never know.

Personally, if I go to the trouble of replacing one, I go
for parts I know I can depend on.

yes. i just bought one for a square taper non-hollowtek deore crank.
building up a bike in china, kinda hard to find decent parts. all the
shimano stuff here is crap from strange sounding asian countries.
the vp is made in taiwan, seems identical to the genuine shimano bb's.
looks to be a quality part.

oh, and the bb cup is alloy, not plastic.

Good to know, thanks. Like I said, you never know.

+1 on the low end Shimano stuff being very questionable.

There's no reason in theory you cannot make a very good
one of these things very economically.

I have used VP bottom brackets on Spinning bikes for a long time. They work fine in that environment- no road grime, no water, etc. Can't speak to how they work in the outside world.

Used an ISIS one on my 'cross bike for a while and it worked great. Fit and finish is really good. Would buy again.
