Road Bike Racing - Zebras are extinct?!

I happened to be at my LBS today while the owner was on the phone with his Castelli distributor. Seems that their contract with Aqua e Sapone ran out, and the zebra kit may be no more. The discussion was over whether the owner still wanted his order filled. The answer was yes, because now they will be collector's items.

I hope they go to the anatomical body suit. :)

I honest to God thought that was the
ugliest kit I have EVER seen (and there
has been some really ugly kit).
The latest VeloNews has Cippo at the finish
of San Remo and its almost obscene.
The Zebra thing did well to emphasize
the crotch area, which after a race isn't
attractive no matter what your persuasion.

Seems Castelli screwed something with the team. Nothing new in cycling.

As many know I usually never hold anything back - The team outfit to me is ridiculous and sales would have been very low. Sponsors also were a bit harder to spot than on other designs.

I do hope at least that the items do find a new manufacturer and find their way in the US market. I would love to sell as there are always true fans out there that will support the team and its riders.

I couldn't agree more. That was an extremely ugly team uniform. It was, however, distinctive. You knew at a glance it was Acqua e Sapone. It may, therefore have been effective. Also, somehow, Cippolini managed to wear it well. I'd look like a geek in it. He looked flashy.

Aqua E Sapone has been wearing Nalini goods for some months. They will be available in a few days for those whom want to know.

Nalini (Moa Sport) will be actual manufacturer.

So did they get a new design??
