Foo - Low-priced U-lock with flat keys?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I checked Nashbar and all except for one lock have rounded keys.
I'm planning on buying 2 u-locks so I'm looking for a low-priced but still safe U-lock.
I would love to support Kryptonite but I just can't afford a $60 or even $50 lock from them.
Does anyone have any other suggestions?

Most larger LBS carry OnGuard locks with flat keys. They start at about $30, and compare well with the better Kryptonite locks.

Thanks, Alan. I checked out your site- nice poster:

I hope the Midnight ride goes well!
OnGuard Locks (http://www.onguardlock.com/pitbull.html) looks like exactly what I was looking for. I'd still be interested in lower-priced U-locks, as Nashbar has ones for only $9. There must be something in between.
Anyone else?

Nashbar carries several low priced Ulocks that have round keys.
In speaking to one of their technical supports reps, he tried to explain that it was only Kryptonite locks that are BICable.
I pressed, and he checked with a mgr. He relented. "We cannot guarentee.. etc."
I found this posted elsewhere on the board:REI Closeout U-Lock $6 (http://www.rei.com/online/store/ProductDisplay?storeId=8001&catalogId=40000008001&productId=47811188&parent_category_rn=22000184)

That "BikeHouston" website has no connection to me, although the guy in the poster looks amazingly like me AND he is riding my favorite "midnight ride" bike. If I knew how to do that "avatar" stuff, that picture might be the way I'd go.

I've seen that REI lock in their store. I thought I would buy it, but it just looks scarily flimsy. The metal core MIGHT be okay, but the plastic looks like it'll crack and fall of easily.
