I just arrived in Roanoke, VA, coming on Greyhound from Albuquerque, NM. The Speed 8 rode with the checked luggage in the zippered Dahon bag that came with my Helios. No extra luggage charge or hassles. Three bus changes, with one luggage handler tossing the bags around. I took the bike uut at the station, slipped the chain back on, set it up and rode off into town. Perfect shape after the long trip, and now I have my favorite bike to tour the area with. I took my cloths in a back pack, and just strapped the Dahon bag onto the back pack. Spent the afternoon grocery shopping and touring the down town area. Tomorrow I am off on the Blue Ridge Parkway. Love that Speed 8!

You're lucky Greyhound didn't make you box the folder like they did to me. I'm kinda glad they did box it because the bus driver was brutal with everyone's luggage. Regardless, have a good trip.

I'm glad that it got there safe despite rough handling. I too love my Speed P8 -- It's a joy to ride and worth every penny.

Greyhound's 'rough handling' is nothing compared to airport's normal handling.

Yeah, the great advantage of folding bikes. When I have to go to my dentist, which is on the other side of this mega-city, my Mu P24 happily folds and rests on the bus, then on the subway (uncovered). I can even carry it through the tall turnstiles (myself, the bike, the backpack). Afterwards it's about 5 more km of biking to the dentist.
From there its either a 37-km ride home (done it once) or a ride to the subway. God praise folders!

Rainy day in Roanoke. Thank goodness for fenders! Visiting the museum, with the Speed 8 politely folded and checked into the coat room. Love that bike.

Back in the bag, back on the bus and headed back to Albuquerque. Bike has been all over the Roanoke Valley, every day. Folded and tucked into the realtor's car at time. Perfect way to travel.

Back in Albuquerque. Very successful trip to Virginia. Damage from being luggage on the bus is limited to a cracked plastic water bottle cage, and a hole worn in the carry bag under the seat post, where someone dragged the bike on the pavement. I put on a nice metal cage, and will patch the hole in the bag with some ballistic nylon. Great way to travel on the cheap.
