Too bad Swobo is no more.
I have a pair of Swobo wool socks that were my favorite pair until I snagged one on a barbed-wire fence and tore a hole in it :(.
Never did plunk down the cash for one of their Jerseys. Too late now.
Got my eye on one of those Surly jerseys though...

I have a pair of smartwool cycling socks that I'm actually sorta disappointed in. The cuffs are all stretched out and they don't fit snugly any more. This is after less than a year of wear.

My girlfriend's a hiker and toasts Smartwools in about 3 to 4 months. I have Thorlos that have lasted longer than her oldest pair of Smartwools.
From what I understand, they used to be pretty good, but it seems the quality has gone downhill since.
I'm still searching for a sock that I like...

You win some you loose some.
Just like taking a tinkle, sometimes you shake it dry, sometimes a drop gets loose.
Really, does it matter?
Only if the stain shows... only if it shows.
Anywhoo.. I was in love with the Rivendale wool jersey until I saw it cost 140 dollars. Jesus Christ on a cracker, 140 bucks? YOUCH!!!
165 knows of a guy on Ebay who sells wool jersey's cheap. Perhaps if you bribe him with libations, he'll pony up the name..

OK, sorry to sneak in but not real sorry.
Perhaps you could create a thread of your own?

Well i could do that, and if i had any shame i would. But perhaps someone will read this thread and spot my little request and say, wow, i have one of those rusting in my garage.
I don't really think thats going to happen so i would rather not waste a whole thread for it.
BTW, William, i was reading ur blog and u are a very honest writer, i enjoyed it.
Now where have i gone with this thread? All over the damn place, that's where!
And the thing is, ever listen to Uriah heap? Old band, the lyrics to a song, stealin?
I was stealin when i should have been buying. I look back on my life now and wish i had been buying more, stealing less. Or Talking heads, once in a lifetime song about, well, once in a lifetime, that's how the days go by, like water going underground.
OK, im rambling now.

Ok, I guess that means I don't have to dig around in my garage this weekend. :o
Its been a while and I'd have to look at it too see what the specs are, but I think I have one. Send me a PM, don't hold your breath and I'll go look.

I blame 165: he did this blog thing, I read it, and wanted to comment. Only you had to register to blog. THEN, THEN, I register and his blog doesn't allow blogs. So, there I was with a blog spot and well.. so I blogged. THEN.. So there I was... @#$@#$$@# 165. All his fault. Though I think 165's writing skills are much better.
[165] does indeed keep a blog worth reading.
And the Talking Heads 0wn.
How OT can we get?

Wool socks with a stash pocket! Think about it.
You should buy some Roos, the shoes with a stash pocket. Too bad they don't come in wool for superior wicking.
Here's a brown one, not plain, but not too bad...on sale if you take a small or medium as that's all they have left...

Spot makes a nice one. I believe they also manufacture for Surly. Don't know they make black. But I'm sure google will be your friend under that search word.

I just sold a Swobo jersey on eBay for 60 bucks, so you missed out. Actually, you didn't miss out, coz they're not that good. Just don't tell all those Swobo worshippers out there, okay? Actually, sure, go ahead and tell them. It won't change their minds anyway.
If you don't need pockets, Icebreaker is hard not to recommend. I can't say i really like the Kucharik or Riv stuff though. It just looks dinky to me.
Actually skitbra, the Spot stuff is made in New Zealand, as is a lot of the ultrafine Merino stuff you'll see floating around.

Believe it or not, Urban Outfitters were selling old wool and acrylic jerseys not to long ago. No one bought them and they went on clearance. I picked up 6 of them for $10 each. Not too many people looking for "shirts" with strange pockets on the back and fit so tightly I suppose ;)
One of them was a plain white wool body with the world color rainbow on it. Scored on that one.
There are some nice old school ones on eBay all the time. Just watch out for sizing. Everything there is one size smaller than here. So the Euro med is like a USA small and so on. They use a 1 thru 5 sizing scale I think.

I hate buying things for fashion. Really. But I'll be @#$@#$ by a @#$3 duck, those wool jerseys look nice and I'd really consider one if they weren't so @#$# expensive. I'm wondering, do they keep you warm and are they at least a little bit @#$@# durable?
I've been wearing soccer shirts because they wick and they are warm and they can take a beating..

I have a nice zoic that I think I got on sale fro like 35 bucks at Performance last year, but I am almost sure they still carry it. It is just a beige body with long black sleeves, mediumish zipper and a zipper back pocket. Its pretty nice, I like it, very warm.
Rivendell has a plain wool jersey in dark blue called the Norwegian Record Holder that runs $75. I picked one up right before a recent bike tour and after 193 miles and 3 days it still didn't stink. I did wash it afterwards, but now I've got 6 more sweaty rides on it and I'm still going without washing it. If it stunk, my wife would let me know. I think I'll put in a few more before it sees soap and water. It's works great in a huge range of temperatures. See details and pic in the attachment. For some reason it's not on their web site but they have them and can be ordered from the catalog or via phone.
