Folding Bikes - Oyama folding bikes?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Does anyone have any opinions on Oyamas? They are going pretty cheap now, For example , the Rockaway for under 300. The components look good, e.g. Tiagra gears.

I think dealer support would be an issue that has been brought up. I agree for the money some good components.

Last time I looked most of the range was very heavy, the single speed bikes weighing as much as geared Dahons.

+1 on support and parts. I don't own an Oyama but my Pinnacle has Oyama folding mechanisms and I'm pretty sure other components. I can't find a dealer (not called Oyama direct though) and internet searches for parts come up empty.
However, I think they're good bikes as the guy who got me into cycling recommended them and has a sporty Oyama and he swears to its quality.
I'm looking into modding my bike with Dahon or other parts so will see how compatible Oyama-like things are with others.

Here's (http://www.foxcycles.ca/public_html/?lang=en) the distributor based out of Montreal that I had met at the recent Bike Show in Toronto. I think the bikes would be good for someone that is good at tinkering. I personally rather find a used known name brand bike. It's easier to find mods / upgrades for them and if all else fails, it's easier to resell....it's kinda like computer components.
On a side note, I think I would have gotten the RR1 (http://www.foxcycles.ca/public_html/products/productdetails/id/62/menuUrl/products) for $900 that day but it was already gone.
