Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I tried this in mechanics w/o any results so I'll try here. I had the brake pads changed on my new bike to cork brakes for the carbonn wheels, but I don't know if the holders were changed out as well. At any rate I want to put on swiss stop pads and the screw on the holder that screws through the holder onto the recess on the pad will not come out. I think it is suppose to be an allen wrench, but this appears to be just circular. Do they make the holders and pads disposable or is the a secret o getting the little screw out?
Why didn't you get answers to your questions in the mechanics forum? Was it because you didn't post any pictures to explain what you're talking about?

Don't know possibly didn't leave the post long enough, but I'll probably get more views here anyway. If I can't get the holders apart I'll order a complete holder and pad set and put new ones on. What's another hundred bucks at this point.:)
I just ordered swiss stop pads and holders this morning. :thumb:

They are allen screws, unless it has been tampered. If you can unscrew them, you just change the pads. Although, there are "kits" that carry the pad and holders and all you do is change out the cartridges from the brake unit.

I thought they were, but these must be as you describe cartridge type because the hole where the allen wrench would fit is round not hex. Thanks for the info TP6
