Introductions - Hello from El Paso

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Hello, I am a 58 year old fellow from far west Texas that has always loved bicycling. I am primarily a commuter and use a 2005 Trek 4300 that I have loaded with racks and bags and lights, plus I put on skinnier (and lighter) 1.6" high pressure tires. It's a great urban assault vehicle, and gets a lot of miles in the city here. I am a utilitarian cyclist, but I keep a car for "special" occasions. I drive about once a week, but other than that I stick with my faithful steed.
I've bicycled since about 1984, and the major benefits have been simplicity and enjoyment of life, and health. Anyway, glad to be part of the forums here!

Looks like it's going to be great here. Forums about commuting, vintage bikes and over 50 cycling will be especially interesting - I'm an old guy, riding an old bike, as a commuter! (The old bike I refer to is my 1985 model Trek 520 Touring rig)
Welcome to Bike Forums.
Old??? You're not old. You're just a kid. ;) I'm coming up on 67.
Enjoy the forums.

Welcome tractorlegs
Lived in El Paso for a year 1969-70 on LittleFlower St and later on the base at Fort Bliss. Not many fond memories under the circumstances but I did have my Raleigh Record 10 speed there. Unfortunately when I got transferred it was too big to bring so it got left behind or sold. Can't remember anymore! Most vivid memory was the 1-2" sleet/snow event on Thanksgiving. Brought the city to a halt!
