Funny you should mention "red or blue." I just rescued one of each color from a garage sale. Schwinn Varsities, late 70's, men's blue and lady's red. All original from the LBS with the era speedometers (1000 and 400 mi respectively).

No sign up needed. Funny 30 years ago, all the expensive road bikes were imports (European mostly) and the cheaper bikes were made in America. How things have changed and reversed.

A sad story. My grandfather worked at the Chicago plant as a tool and die maker until his retirement in 1978. I grew up with Schwinns. My first bike was a crate Stingray Fastback.

An homage to where our ecomony is headed. We are no longer a manufacturing ecomomy.
