At the break/photo-op above the Mulberry, I couldn't resist getting Slick in a shot.

Several hundred feet away, you can see the Mulberry. From our vantage point, we could hear the water rushing over the rocks. Sweet!

We made our way back from the junction of 215 and 23 and through Oark, AR. About a mile west of Catalpa, we stopped at the "swinging bridge". The swinging bridge is an alternate route across the river to the road and the mail box when the river is running high and the low water bridge is covered.

Here's a part of the crew perched on the bridge. And yes it swings when one walks across it. Once you establish a walking cadence which resonates with the swinging, you're OK.

Food awaits! Back at the Catalpa, we replaced calories burned with honest-to-goodness real food!

Those are yeast rolls made from scratch. They are huge. They are to die for!!!

And what better way to tie the ribbons on an outstanding ride with an outstanding group.

Thanks for sharing Mulberry I, II and III.

I thoroughly enjoyed your ride, and I would be with the "smell the roses and take pictures" crew.

It's a little more substantial than chicken wire, and it is suspended from some respectable steel cable on either side. First walk out on it is a little spooky, but the swinging bridge has survived the ravages of floods, high winds, ice storms etc.

Love the photos, especially the bridge. We had one just downriver from us where we lived for seven years. It was a bit wider (built for ATV crossing) and a bit longer, but had the same scary look. We would never allow more than one person on at a time since many of the boards were rotten.
