This is pretty common amongst endurance riders(mates) that I asked- some of them called it the bleeding gum feeling. It seems worse or more frequent in cold & dry conditions so I'd go with the speculation that it's the effect of panting flat out on your mucous membranes.

Has anyone found any more information on this?
I taste pennies/blood/iron every time that I run... My Doctor is a joke and says that I just need to get in shape (I am already in shape).

Anyone heard of Exercise-Induced Heartburn??
