Hi,

I am wondering what is the best type of, or source of, milk crates to attach to my rear rack to use as a rear basket?

I have something very much like a milk crate but it was designed for file folders, it's called a file crate, and the cross hatching on the bottom seems a bit weak so I would like to look for something more sturdy.

Can anyone can recommend how or where to get a crate that is known to work well attached to a rear rack?

Well, I suspect the usual source of them is the loading dock of your local grocery store. (All of mine came out of dumpsters.) However, the Container Store will sell you one: http://www.containerstore.com/shop/closet/cubesBins?productId=10000531 (for a third what the bike source above wants, too.)

For ten bucks you can get a solid and legal milk crate just like tbe dairies use from The Container Store.

That is where all the ones I used to have came from. I used to use them to hold all my books---many, many, moons ago, before I got married and settled down. Now I have real book shelves.
