Foo - Beer

Just wanted to give some props to such a great invention. I'm not talking about American Pilsner crap, I'm talking about real beer. Nothing finer. Well, I can think of one thing, but for right now I'm happily sipping my Full Sail Wassail winter brew. Happy Friday!

Couldn't figure out if that was a condescending remark or what... I guess my American Pilsner comment may be taken as condescending also...oh, well- we've got alcohol to smooth it over, eh?

Beer's still currency to me. I just paid back a friend I owed money to with a six pack.

European beers brewed by German monks in 1530 might be fun to swig, but they just don't wash out a dry mouth on a hot summer day like an ice-cold Coors.

Someone told me he used to pee in the mountain streams that Coors brews with. He probably did.

Well, happily, here in the Yoo Ess Aye, the microbreweries are still providing the goodies for folks who want to avoid the high-volume lagers. But, like LBM said, sometimes the really complex brews just don't do it on a superhot day. While I really enjoy a Full Sail at times (and a lot of the other Oregonian beers, yum!), there are days when I roll back to the house, hang up the bike, and suck down a light and crisp Pacifico (yes, it's Mexican, not USA-an, but they sure know how to put together a hot-weather beer) or equivalent. As I am typing this I am sipping a Gordon Biersh Blond Bock golden lager.

Just this last Thursday I led a short Club ride of 35 miles, with 3000 ft of climbing, that ended at the Steelhead Brewery brew pub in Burlingame. They usually have two cask-conditioned beers available, one of which is an IPA (called the "Bombay Bomber"). Now that was a nice finish to a ride.

All in all, beer is a terrific accompaniment to cycling. No wonder I can't get below 195 lbs.

You got that right! I do mine on a cajun cooker @ 15 gallons at a time! Yummy! I need to make some more, now that I think about it.

I dunno, man. I'd much rather drink a forty of the OE 800 than make forty ounces of beer that may or may not taste good.
