Hello,

I have been riding for a couple of years now. Mostly for the low impact cardio. I have become addicted. My normal rides are between 10 and 25 miles, about 3 to 5 times per week. I just turned 50 years old.

I recently started having some knee pain, so i backed off on my ride length and frequency.

The pain went away about 75% after a few weeks of taking it easy.

Recently my job got in the way of my bike riding and i couldnt ride for a couple of weeks. I figured that when i could finally get back in the saddle, my knee would be healed, but thats not the case.

I havent been back on my bike yet and this morning, while working, out of nowhere my left knee cap starting really hurting.

I googled "Pain in the center of my kneecap" and your site came up with a posting about a similar issue, so i joined.

The pain feels like it is just under the skin, in the center of my knee cap. It hurts when getting up from a sitting position or sitting down from a standing position.

Does anybody know what this could be or has had this experiance. What forum should i go to with questions like this?

Thanks for listening and any direction or wisdom would be greatlly appreciated.

Welcome Shorty. You're not alone, age wise or pain wise. As 10 wheels suggested, check with the folks in the 50+ forum. You might also find some help in the General Cycling forum. Maybe it's as simple as a saddle height or position problem. Read on.
Good luck and keep us posted.

Live and Cycle in seal beach a lot myself, you can try going to the Physical therapy place just off from the cvs by main street, they're pretty good.
