I'm 61 yrs old and have commuted to work for years (only a 6-mi round trip). My gimpy knee began bothering me in late Aug, and I began fearing I would need a knee replacement. To avoid that, I tried a different approach: I upped my mileage, doing errands around town and climbing hills where I could. The effect was amazing. Within 3 weeks, I was able to do a deep knee bend for the 1st time in 30 years. So I have decided to make bicycles a bigger part of my life.

I just bought a Surly Longhaul Trucker and would like to try some longer rides.
