Mountain Biking - The ULTIMATE roadtrip!!!

Ok, fellas, here's my crack at the ultimate roadtrip for me. Set to happend as SOON as I graduate. Should take about a Month or a little more.

Departing, Nashville TN. via fully restored International Scout:

1. Springfield MO: Flyfishing the White River in the Ozarks, and hitting up a local MTB Trail as a warmup
2. Denver CO: Visit with Moms, ride with LordOpie in the altitudes for a day, flyfish a small mountain stream
3. Portland OR: Meet my good friends Liza and Justin for Beers, Check out the local trail system for a day, flyfish a day
4. Seattle WA: Hit up the local trails for some EPIC riding, day long trips and a drunken tour of the city at night
5. Vancouver/Whistler B.C.: At least 8 or 9 days hitting the mountain runs and all the local FR/XC trails, plus a trip to the shore of course, plus maybe a wilderness trip for some wild trout, and DEFINITELY a day or two chasing the Kamloops Cutthroat with my flyrod.
6. Yosemite National Park, CA: Looking at Big Brown Bears and Flyfishing some Famous Water. Maybe a ride, but I dont know the scene.
7. Moab, UT: 2 or 3 days of Epic rides. What more can I say?
8. Taos, NM: Hitting the lifts at Angelfire resort if my ass isnt too chafed, and also fishing some of the best trout water there is

Returning home, battered, bruised and completely worn out, ready to begin my career as a teacher with a ton of photos and memories to complete them.

And just to add: Id be camping out at most the places, unless the weather was bad, and my dog, if he's trained well enough, will accompany for the trip. And of course, the Sirius Sattelite Radio will be along as well. And a bunch of sunflower seeds and a big thermos of Coffee.

No. Im not a senior, Ill be a junior next, but Im just getting ready because before this happens I have to buy/build up an international scout AND save up the money for this. 2 years from now this will go down.

This summer I am going to BC, but it wont be a trip like this one.

That wouldbe an awesome road trip for sure. With all the different things you ride, I am glad you said 8 or 9 days. Your hands will appreciate one day to go to the booty bar and just drink.

Ah, age don't matter. My ****** roomate is 22 years old. I am just so sick of everyone being old enough for the bar, when I have to sit at home drinking alone for the most part.

Two words... Fake Identification

I made my Ex's Brother an awesome Fake drivers license with an old library card, contact cement and some Matte Acetate lamination... Looked 99.9% legit!
Just scan and alter your roomates license (both sides) in Adobe and print out the new apply contact cement to a thin firm card, paste and laminate...Voila! Just make sure the thickness is about the same...If not a dead giveaway, unless you can just flash it from your wallet photo window... then just the printout will do!

Now....if you'd bike that whole distance....that would be ULTIMATE TO THE MAX!

Although the Scout is a pretty cool alternative...

yeah well, since Arkansas is a ****HOLE, I dont think I'll be stopping there. But I heard the trails at Ouachita are real cool too.

This looks like one SICK road trip. I will be backpacking through Europe once I graduate in a year and half :D

The year after, I hope to visit Moab, and Fruita for 2 weeks with my bike, and camp most of the time.

Its just that they're old now, so of course they break a bit, but parts from TONS of other vehicles will work on them, so basically anything that explodes on the trip I could get at Auto Zone, but I dont think there will be any issues.

Well good rep. or not I know people that have had them over the years and I have spent a lot of time under the hood of those things. As for being a hillbilly,my great grandfather was killed on the Dupont St. For. property in 1948 and his old home place is there. I can take you to a lot of moonshine stills,some working some not.I have a family bluegrass band w/ my wife & kids.A black and tan coon hound named Elly May and a pig that lives in the house.That's pretty dadburn hillbilly ya'll .:D

You dont know what Flyfishing is? WTF? Thats wierd man.

Its just fishing with artificial lures called flies, largely done for trout in streams or rivers. You use a long rod and floating line that can be thrown to get the fly which weighs relatively nothing in front of the fish. Its kind of hard to explain, actually.

That sounds like a sweet road-trip. I'm a junior in high school and two of my friends and I are just starting to plan our road trip for the summer after we graduate. It'll probably be somewhere along the caliber of yours except we'll be starting from up here in MA then try to make a big loop around the states (BC'll be thrown in there as well). Good luck, hope it all works out because it looks like it'll be a blast.

Fly fishing is hard. Very light lure and afunky casting technique where you whip the pole back and forth to give it distance. I found it signifigantly harder that normal fishing as, I seem to remember, the line tends to be lighter too. The skill required to case and hook a fish AND keep it on the line...whoa!!!
