Commuting - Winter Pants for Comparison

It's getting to be that time in Minnesota, so I'm thinking about two pairs of pants for wind/snow/sleet/hail. Has any used one (or both) of these pants:

http://www.showerspass.com/catalog/men/mens-pants/roadie-pant
Both seem good. Both seem reasonably priced. Both are something I haven't bought, so I need all the help I can get. 12-mile commute (both ways) with considerable wind most days, so the more tapered, the better.
Thanks!

save yourself a couple of bucks and try some Novara Headwind pants (http://www.rei.com/product/815145/novara-headwind-bike-pants-mens)
I also use J&G patrol pants (http://www.bicycleclothing.com/Patrol-Wind-Pants-Unisex.html) for those days when the temps are cold in the morning but warm enough for shorts on the way home
based on your two choices only, I'd go with the Showers Pass pants.

I took a chance on these.

If UPS had not delivered these to the complete wrong address, they might have come in handy this week.

I have the basic Showerspass rain pants. I like them - good quality, well sealed seams, thoughtfully placed velcro, and set up for suspenders. I am not familiar with the roadie pants, but I am generally impressed with the products that I have seen - good stuff for the money.

A rain shell and a pair of fleece pants beneath, do a nice job.., ditto the upper.
A bit more of a chore to put on, but a glove shell and separate liner ,
separate to dry quicker..
same Idea separate and the insulation dries quicker..

Fellow Minnesotan here: Sorry I can't speak directly to the ones you are looking at, but I've ridden more than a few winters now. I've got 4 pairs of pants that are suitable for winter. All highly resistant to moisture. Here's my rundown.
My top two choices for commuting are:
Showerspass Hybrid Zip off pants - With the zip offs they are really great for fall and spring, when the mornings are cold and the afternoons are warm. They are loose enough to layer underneath for winter. The fabric and craftsmanship is top notch, I can't say enough about them. Everything showers pass makes is designed for bikers, and it's all excellent.

Sporthill XC pants - Peter White recommend. Warm, windprooof, just loose enough for a thin base layer for when it's really cold. I wear these to ski, snowshoe, bike, everything winter sport. Amazing warmth and breathability. They are magic pants, I love them. http://www.sporthill.com/product.php?TypeID=2100
My next two are more purpose built and see less action:
- REI Novarra rain pants. If it's going to rain and be cold or be really snowy these are great, as they are totally water proof and wind proof. I layer from thin to thick base layers under them depending on temp, They don't breathe but when it's 38 degrees, windy, and raining these babies are the shiz. Mine are a few years older, so not exactly like these but pretty close. http://www.rei.com/product/819018/novara-express-20-bike-pants-mens
Pearl Izumi Amfib tights. I wear these for recreational and road rides mostly. They are tights with a front windproof waterproof membrane. They totally work. I can even use them as a layer under pants mentioned above, then I could ride to the north pole. Mine are older, like these but with out the chamois http://shop.pearlizumi.com/product.php?mode=view&pc_id=47&product_id=1578594&outlet=
Hope this helps.

I have a pair of running tights and a pair of Canari tights. I use a pair of North Face snow pants for really wet weather.
Never used Showers Pass even though they are a local company I do see a lot of people that wear it though.
AmFibs are on my list to get.

These get my vote. Love em but they're obviously pricey.
