Advocacy & Safety - Not - an advocacy or safety issue?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Just wonder why the helmet thread was relocated to road cycling.
Is this an indication the Mods don't consider helmet use and advocacy, or safety issue?

Well, obviously I don't know, and they haven't had the courtesy to tell us, but this IS the internet, so let's speculate:
The last thread was retitled, because apparently the mods felt that guarding the original title (given by a Helmet Believer) was biasing the thread against the responses that they wished to prevail.
Perhaps this is another attempt to shore-up an obnoxious viewpoint? Don't really see how, but then I thought that the original thread was a pretty stupid approach anyway.

I don't hang in the hemet thread much anymore, but it sure seems to be appropriate to A&S.......
I am scratching my helmet :) at the thought of this thread in road.

I don't wear a helmet on the road but I do on the trail...

I'm not a helmet, but I wear one on TV.
The myth of helmets has been busted so many times in A&S, there's no need for further discussion.

I can see how roadies would want to discuss helmets, but I can't see how helmets are not an advocacy or safety issue.
That thread has been on this sub-forum for over 6 years. Now it's not? I'm curious as to why.
It belongs in the professional racing forum, since they and a few odd towns are the only ones who are mandated to wearing them.:innocent:

Yeah. Good one.
Yeah. Good one.I feel for you. You have a mandatory helmet law and I have mandatory bike lane and bike registration laws.

the silver lining of our helmet law was an agreement to scrap our mandatory side-path law. Bike registration was discontinued some 10 years before our MHL.

Mods thought the body count would be higher to watch over there?

I see the thread is back to A&S this morning. Good news. My beef with those who insist on helmet use relates to A&S, not road riding.

I get the "what a dip Sh@t look when I ride in some parts of my town with my helmet. So I'm a dork! At least I may have some brains left following a steel/asphalt/cement impact!

No, it's an indication that the mods have decided that cruel and unusual punishment is appropriate for roadies. :D

I wonder if I still have it in me to cut into a new audience. And roadies at that...

We saw the thread was from A&S and rejected it. They had to return it to the sender.

That's good. Road cycling has almost nothing to do with either advocacy or safety.
