This coming Tuesday, the US senate will vote on a bill to move Transportation Enhancement funds AWAY from biking and walking projects and into bridge repair.

Write your senators this weekend. America needs your voice to help preserve Transportation Enhancement funding for active transportation projects.

Ask your senators to keep TE funds for active transportation. Taking TE funds and moving them to bridge repair would be a reprehensible absconding of funds that are dedicated to walking and biking enhancements in america.

Write YOUR senators, demand they preserve TE funds for their stated purpose. Bikes don't break bridges, pedestrians don't break bridges.

If the senate wants to get serious about fixing even the most fracture critical bridges in america, they're going to have to find a heck of a lot more money than TE funds would provide. America shouldn't sacrifice the walkability and bikeability of this nation to throw pennies at A HUGE PROBLEM, critical and fracture critical bridges and elevated roadways in this country.

Spending on TE projects can actually help lessen future infrastructure costs. Bikes don't break bridges.

write your senators today, preserve TE funding for active transportation.

Do you really need a second thread to carry your rant in.

Urge your senators to Vote NO on Senate Amendment 821.

I didn't say 'NO', but I was emphatic about the diversion of funds.

When U.S. Sen. Tom Coburn shelved the proposal, U.S. Sen. Rand Paul picked it up, almost as if it had never died.

thanks, chip, now at least its out at Bike forums. It was surprising to see when i had come home from work, no one had posted this yet, given the volume of bike related traffic Bike Forums gets funneled its way over the internet.

Chip, i hope you wrote in to both your senators.

Getting senators to preserve TE funding for their stated use is a very important issue affecting all americans.

Folks, write your senators (its easy, just google "insert your states name" + "senators") and go to their home websites. every senator has an email link at their webpage.

Write in now, ask your senators to preserve Transportation Enhancements for active transportation, urge them to vote NO on senate amendment 821 this Tuesday Nov. 1.

Bikes don't break bridges. Planning for active transportation can help keep America strong by lessening our impact on our nations infrastructure...... urge your senators to vote NO on amendment 821 and preserve Transportation Enhancements.

Here's an article from Huffington Post yesterday, with some additional depth on the Transportation Enhancements debacle, a compelling argument for continued funding for active transportation projects, and easy senator contact links for everyone.

this is truly an issue affecting all americans, not just us bikers. Write your senators today, preserve TE funds for their stated purpose.

... a post from Streetsblog showcasing the benefits TE planning has done for the repair service intervals on some of portland's bridges.

eliminating Transportation Enhancements not only won’t fix the nation’s bridges — the $900 million pot of funds couldn’t even pay for patching things up with duct tape — but could increase the overall cost of infrastructure maintenance.

the vote is this coming tuesday, write your senators today, preserve TE funds for active transportation.

Wouldn't anything supported by Congressman Mica be a little flaky?

This funding debate seems to re-emerge every month or so lately.

Doesn't anyone ride a bike in Rand Paul's district?
