Commuting - riding at night

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I thought this was timely w/ daylight savings approaching.
The other day my daughter (1st grader) asked my wife if she knew what bothered her (daughter) the most about biking at night? My wife was thinking 'reflectors, lights, small kid getting hit by cars...'
Zombies.

That makes sense in town, but I don't think we have many out in the sticks where I ride. Maybe zombie deer.
we have zombie squirrels, lil bastards walk right out in front of you here

Round these parts in our cycling slang a zombie is one of those riders that shows up on your wheel and just sits on in your slipstream without ever taking a pull.
So ironically riding at night is one of the best times to avoid them since there are so few cyclists on the road and thus many fewer potential zombies.

Where I live there are plenty of nite-time Zombies of all types. HardyWeinberg, your 1st grader is wise beyond her years
