Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Maybe just because its winter time, but lately my legs feel like they're taking an hour to warmup and feel good. Is this normal?

You can use embrocation to kinda artificially warm them up. You just rub on some linamenty stuff and voila- warm legs. You can ask at your LBS or local drugstore. They should have something.

You are wearing tights or leg/knee warmers, right? That's a big time needed item for cold-weather riding. Not only does it keep your legs warm, but it keeps your knees healthy. Cycling without some sort of warmer over the knee is not smart below 60 degree Farenheit.

Ya, I've got leg warmers, and I live in SoCal, so frigid weather to me is anything below 60.

20-25km for me, and we don't get "winters" here.

Yep, I find I take about an hour to warm up in the winter too. I'm sure the time taken has got longer as I've got older (I'm 37). My legs feel warm, with cold-weather tights and everything, they just don't have any serious energy for an hour or so.

I find that the older I get, the longer it takes to warm my legs up and feel good.

Saturday, my husband rode from Rancho Cucamonga to Devore and back. He said it took him about an hour minutes to get his legs really warmed up, but he didn't have his tights on.

And you must live by the beach, eh? I laugh at your 60 degree! :) I live about 45 miles east of LA and it's been freezing at night (quite cold for us, oh frigig-clime folks!)

to continue my post, so rudely interrupted by the cat attempting to sleep on my arms. ..

Our house is roughly faces south and the back side is the cold side that faces the rest of the hills and mountains we are on. The south side is very much the warmer side, but the thermometer on that side (on a protected wall right next to the front door) has been staying in the forties for much of the day.

I know we Southern Californians are cold wussies, but this is pretty cold to ride in when you may not have the gear for it!

I'm in the Memphis TN area - not much winter here - but where it was taking me about 5-7 miles to feel warmed up now it's more like 11-13 even if it's not all that cold. I HATE HATE HATE the wind and cold now!!! Is it spring yet?

Same here.

Except I don't live in Memphis.

Since adding a trainer to my equipment list a couple weeks ago, warm-ups are easy.

3 to 5 miles for me spinning at a decent cadence. i usually jump off the bike after that and do a few quick streches before riding more.
