One time I was going down a steep hill with a signal at the intersection at the bottom. I flew down and had the green. But as I got to the bottom of the hill, a pickup waiting in the opposite direction floored it, making a left into my path. Thankfully, I was going very fast, but his front bumper got a couple of feet away from my body at his closest. Braking, accelerating and turning were not options for me at the time. Any slower and I would have been toast.

You guys must live in a parallel universe or something. In this dimension, you'd be a goner.

Scariest non-accident I've had on the bike taught me not to time green lights when doing 25 mph through downtown; I was almost creamed by red light runner doing 30 to make a light that he'd already missed. I made an emergency right turn to avoid collision, and it happened to work. If it'd been wet or icy out, or the motorist had been in his right lane instead of his left, or I'd miscalculated the brake/lean ratio, I probably would've been t-boned or run over at 30 mph. Now I don't even time greens in my car; too many late-yellow/early-red runners and gunners in this town.
