Considered it for daughter. Decided not to. If you're in California, then its not that big of a deal. Are you asking from a perspective of college entrance or what exactly?

A friend did it a couple of years back when our school became an Academy. Basically, instead of leaving school with a few lower end A-Levels he left with nothing and works at ASDA.

Passed all but one exam, which he failed 5 times - each time by 1 or 2 marks so his overall wasn't a pass.

My kids did it. Allowed them to get a bit of college credit and skip some classes.

In Oregon state universities you start as a sophomore if you are an IB graduate. Most colleges and universities give college credit for IB test scores at passing levels. Both of my kids are IB/IHS and French Immersion grads, if nothing else they got a fabulous learning experience from public schools in Eugene.

One of my kids did it. No particular direct benefit in University other than some class credit, but the primary benefit for me was that he spent most of his high school career with the IB population (about 20-25 other kids per year in my district), and that made him a better student, provided more opportunities to mature as a person, and kept him out of a fair amount of trouble, compared to what I expected without the IB program load and population.
