I stripped the Avid brake levers, installed compact Bontrager bars, re-wrapped the bars, and fitted up a pair of tubeless Ultegra wheels and away I went.... My first year of cross, my 27th year on the road...catch the fever!

just saw the 2012 Fuji Cross in black/green. I must say it looks sweet. I had my heart set on a Specialized Tricross but the price of the Fuji is so tempting. I am just not that familiar with Fuji bikes. Are they reliable enough?

This year's tricross is a commuter bike - no more. Fuji cross is a race bike.

This was my first road bike in almost 30 years. Bought it in April, I commute on it, rode lotsa road miles before getting a dedicated road bike, raced CX on it. I love the bike! It is a good deal!

That's not really a bad thing. I am looking at the cross bikes as a do it all, better than a hybrid kind of a bike. I don't see me using it to race. I just want something with drop bars - with the added brakes up top, and a wider tire than the little 700x23's, and a frame/wheels that could more likely handle my clyde size than some of the lightweight road frames. I just took a closer look at the 2010 comp specs and I am amazed at thst price. So are you saying that if it's more a "race bike" that I would be better suited to the specialized? Can't I just raise the bars or flip the stem to get a more "commuter" ride with the Fuji?

No braze ons for racks or fenders - if that's a big deal to you.

The 2010 is still available at Performance. The 2010 does indeed have braze-on's on the rear stays.

I received mine on Thursday of last week. I went out for a shakedown ride, and had a blast. Did my normal road ride, but threw in some curb jumping, and some gravel and dirt sections next to the road at full speed. Man it was fun. I am changing out a few parts like the seatpost because it has too much setback, and went with a shorter stem. Other than that, its a fun little ride. I looked at bikes up to $1500 but at the $799 price plus 10% back at Performance its a no brainer.
