here's the deal, i can deal with cold temps well, like when i run or hang out or work outside, my body temp feels fine in the cold, so i don't wear a ton of clothes, but when i ride the wind kills me. when i go ride, i don't like wearing a lot of clothes or a windbreaker, cause none of mine breate well. I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions of clothes that will work in the 30 to 45 degree range and aren't that thick and won't be like an oven, but will help keep wind out? i was thinkin aobut gettin some underarmor cool gear as a base layer for when it gets cold. i know this won't help with wind, but anyone have any feedback on this stuff?

I've just started using the UnderArmour cold(?) shirt and tights (with just a jersey and my shorts on top) down to the mid 30s and felt very comfortable with it. I was surprised how the gusts (20-30 mph I think) of wind yesterday (at the upper 30s) hit my face, but I didn't feel a thing on my legs or body.

A windpreaker made from polyester microfibre, with no waterproofing.

A vented nylon or Goretex shell over the UnderArmour ColdGear works great. For your head, get a Mountain Hardwear balaclava.
Any sort of light windbreaker/overcoat that can be partially unbuttoned to give the desired airflow.

I just bought a Gore jacket with Gor-tex XCR. It has kept me dry and warm on some night rides. IT is important to use a garmet that lets your sweat out.

I got a wind breaker vest with a mesh back. I've been using that in temps ranging from 37 to 50. I usually wear it over a long-sleeved jersey. Let me tell you, the vest is a million times more comfortable then my rain/wind jacket - that thing ALWAYS had me sweaty. The vest even has a fleece lined collar than can come up around your neck and throat. That's great for keeping warm while still having plenty of ventillation.
When it gets even colder I can throw on a fleece sweater over the vest.

The trick is bing able to regulate your body temp. Pit zips help alot. Open 'em up when you're warm -- zip them if you're cool. I found myself wanting zipers in the elbow of my windbreaker yesterday too.
I also find that arm warmers are outstanding for bing able to regulate heat. You can slide them down to just below your jersey sleeve, elbows, or all the way to your wrists depending on your current temp. They are harder to manage of course if they are under a shell.
