I asked for input about converting my C'Dale R500T to a double last spring. At the time I said I'd keep the triple. After returning to riding I decided to go back to the double crank I liked so much.

I assembled the parts from ebay and my LBS. Still need a FD due to clearance between the seat tube and the rear tire, the RSX FD has too much bulk on the back side for where I had to move it to with the larger big ring:twitchy:. Everything went together well. The parts were in better condition than described for both the RD and the crank/bottom bracket. I picked up the park tools and a SRAM 6-7-8 speed compatible chain at the LBS and will get a FD tomorrow.

I am jazzed to be back on the double that I like so well. Sorry to go against the advice:innocent: but i just wanted to do this project. I have the triple crank and the BB if I want to go back to the stock set up. Thanks for the input even if I am a hardheaded Marine:roflmao2:.

Thank YOU for your service to the USA, and, is there any other kind of Marine:innocent:? I wouldn't have the Marines defending America any other way:thumb:

Cheers,

Brian J.

Depends on the Marine:cry:

Depends on your hills-

Depends on the crank-

Can modify all that with "TYPE" getting in there somewhere aswell.

I ride triple and Double- but compact double. Unless it is extra hilly or extra long on distance- then I prefer the compact. But the triple still comes in usefull and gets used a lot.

Government workers. They think we all know what every abbreviation they use in conversation is... I've been around bikes for a while and still have problems figuring out abbreviations ....FD?

Did an externship at a military base one time and they insisted on throwing out abbreviations and monikers all the time, even knowing I was a civilian and only there for 3 months. I kept saying "huh"? about 100 times a day and made them repeat every sentence they said. You'd think they'd get the message, but nooooooooo.

Well FB could mean FaceBook but in this case I think it is a Old eyes foul up 'cause i read it as FD which I took to mean Front Deralier.

Brian, Thanks much. :thumb:

Stap, you Royal Marines always one up us don't y'all!;) We are stone flat here in NW Florida. You can set a marble down and it won't roll":roflmao2: The crank is a Shimano 105 with a cartridge BB, 54/42 rings. Just what I love in this flat area. I can change back anytime.

Sorry FD is for front Duerailleur (SP, that is exactly why I used an abbreviation.)

I got a deal on a braze on Sora Shimano FD and a clamp at my local LBS this morning. Just headed out to get a cable.
